The Shabby Chicas love, love, love Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (ASCP). Here are some pictures of our latest project - a French finished dresser with hutch circa 1970's. Here she is before and during her transformation.
In this picture the Paris Grey and Old White contrast very nicely.
If you are a fan of ASCP too, you may also love the no priming, no sanding benefit of using Chalk Paint. It's true! This piece was painted with two coats of Paris Grey and Old White. It was waxed with Annie Sloan's Clear Wax which is also great to use. It is a very soft paste wax that goes on like soft butter. After a slight distressing along the edges, one of the Chicas suggested that we try using Annie Sloans Dark Wax over the Old White trim at top, bottom and along the drawers. This added a nice finish that reminded us of a French piece. Then another light coat of Clear Wax was applied to soften it all up.
Here she is all done and ready for purchase at the shop - Homestead Handcrafts on Thousand Oaks here in San Antonio, Texas.
On to the next project...

Just beautiful! And my favorite color combination!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I appreciate your comment as I am a big fan of your work! T
DeleteThat is adorable--what a cute little hutch and lovely job you did transforming it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shabby Chic Sandy! I'm addicted to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!
DeleteI Love your redo!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vintage Fairy! And thanks for following!
DeleteLove Paris Grey & white! And, I just picked up this hutch's 'sister' on craig's list ... a dresser with lots of shiny gold - and plastic white feet?? Did your's have weird feet?
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa Anne--YES, the feet were plastic and very weird. The beauty of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is that it covers most all types of surfaces, plastic included! So, the feet now look like wood. I also painted the hardware using the chalk paint and added both the clear and dark waxes to make it look more naturally authentic.
DeleteWhat do you have planned for your piece?
What type of brush do you use for stencil? What type of gold leaf do you use on your projects? Do you sell these at homestead? If not where can i purchase? I had a very hard time stenciling my dinning table and i had a tiny brush. Thanks, Annie
